PREAMBLE

The environmental, social, and legal safeguard policies and standards of development partners donor funder projects are designed to prevent and mitigate undue harm to people and their environment in the implementation of specific development projects, and to ascertain that project benefits reach the target population.

TARGET GROUP

Officials involved in planning, designing and managing government funded and donor funded projects in the roads sector, energy and power sector, education sector, health sector, agriculture and irrigation sectors, and local government sectors.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The main workshop focuses on attaining knowledge on how to Integrate environmental and social safeguards in projects in a systematic manner ensuring compliance with the requirements of national regulations and the policies of development partners.

The following Topics will be discussed

  • National Environmental Laws and legislation;
  • Identification of Environment and Social Risks in Projects;
  • Conducting Environmental and Social Assessments;
  • Stakeholders Consultation and Participation;
  • Mapping Vulnerable and Marginalized Groups (VMGs) as well as Physical & Cultural Resources (PCRs);
  • Incorporating VMGs and concerns of Indigenous People in project phases;
  • Mitigating Gender Based Violence and Sexual Exploitation in Projects;
  • Protecting Physical & Cultural Resources (PCRs);
  • Undertaking Social Advocacy on Environmental and Social Issue;
  • Monitoring and Reporting Compliance to Environmental and Social Safeguards.

  1. Fees Payment - All fees are payable strictly in advance 2 working days before the course starting date.
  2. Cancellation Fee - Cancellation of any participant 5 working days before the start day of a course will incur a 20% cancellation fee.
    We regret that no cancellations will be accepted within 2 working days of a course, but substitutions may be made.
